Some Software works and others try to hard. DVD Shrink v3.2 tries to be the very personification of simplified DVD copying but ends up being overly simple and lacking in features. It lacks many of the codec conversion options that better applications use and down-samples the audio conversion without a user prompt at all! Imagine spending three hours on a dual-layer clone of a 8.5 gig movie, only to find that the sound is in Stereo only [as opposed to Dolby 5.1]! I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it is small quirks like these that cause DVD Shrink v3.2 to receive a lower score. Plus the interface is very plain un-intuitive.

DVD shrink is great for backing up your DVD colelction. Some applications cannot compress the DVD's enough to fit on your DVD±R disc.

DVD Shrink will compress the data on your DVD to a much better size.

It provides many ways of shrinking your disc including specific selections, re-authoring and re-encoding. You can use one, the other, or all combined.
