The idea of being able to view movie files before they are fully downloaded is certainly an interesting one, and could come in very handy for users who download movies on a regular basis. This is the main function of AVI Preview 0.26 alpha, and while the utility manages to perform the task adequately, the performance leaves a lot to be desired especially in comparison with some of the stronger offerings in the genre. The main problem is the lack of functionality. AVI Preview 0.26 alpha can only view partially downloaded files, but not damaged or poorly coded ones, and only supports certain video file formats. Furthermore, the application is generally buggy and unstable, which is just inexcusable, despite the fact that it’s still in the alpha stages. In the end, users would be far better off considering an alternative application instead.
